File Express is a particularly secure file transfer solution, and this is why:
- All data is stored in a data center in Switzerland that meets the highest standards and is also used by banks.
- All files are transmitted and stored in encrypted form. You can find out more about encryption below.
- You have the option of protecting your transfer with a password. Only after entering the password can your recipients download the data.
- In addition to standard encryption, we also offer end-to-end encryption for your file transfers.
- Geo-blocking allows you to determine the countries and regions from which access to your transfers is allowed.
Apart from these security features, the way you handle your data is crucial. If you create an ordinary transfer without password protection, anyone with the link will have access to your files. Therefore, it is essential that you only give the link to the people who really need it.
How are the files encrypted?
Encrypted data transmission
The TLS (Transport Layer Security) encryption protocol is used for all transfers. This encrypts the connection between your browser and our servers, ensuring that your files are transmitted securely and protected from third parties. This also applies to all other data transmitted, such as credit card details.
With end-to-end encrypted transfers, the files are already encrypted in your browser before they are uploaded and remain encrypted throughout the entire transfer. They can only be decrypted with the generated password in the recipient’s browser and are therefore not readable by anyone – not even by us as the operator. End-to-end encryption provides the best protection for your data.
Encrypted data storage
All transfers, with or without end-to-end encryption, are stored encrypted at rest on our servers. This means that the data is stored in an unreadable format. It is automatically decrypted when accessed. Users do not notice this encryption. This protects the data against physical theft of the data carriers.
